Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued strict orders late Saturday placing all combat units and air defense systems on maximum alert, according to Iranian media.
The high command ordered the immediate deployment of forces to protect what it described as “sensitive areas,” including nuclear reactors, ballistic missile bases, and sovereign headquarters in the heart of the capital.
The moves come amid intelligence reports warning of a potential rapid military strike that could target the senior leadership in Tehran.
Tehran opens underground shelters
In an unprecedented step since the eight-year Iran-Iraq war, Tehran municipality, in coordination with the national crisis management authority, announced the opening of all public shelters and fortified metro stations to civilians.

Authorities began preparing the shelters with food and medical supplies to accommodate up to 2.5 million people. Major streets in the capital witnessed visible disruption as the preparations got underway.
The measures reflect the level of concern in Tehran over escalating threats, including warnings related to a naval armada approaching the Gulf.
Separately, US media reported that the President of the United States Donald Trump received briefings on options that include a wide-ranging bombing campaign targeting Iranian regime facilities and Revolutionary Guard sites.
