Reasons US gave for withdrawing from WHO “untrue,” says chief

The World Health Organization chief said Saturday that the reasons Washington had given for announcing its withdrawal from the agency were "untrue", warning the departure would make the US and the world "less safe".

"Unfortunately, the reasons cited for the US decision to withdraw from WHO are untrue," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on X, stressing that the UN health agency had "always engaged with the US, and all Member States, with full respect for their sovereignty".
