The Voice of Hind Rajab, inspired by the final moments of a young Palestinian girl killed in Gaza, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best International Film category, marking a milestone for Arab and global cinema.
Directed by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, the film tells the true story of six-year-old Hind Rajab, who was killed in January 2024 while fleeing 'Israeli' bombardment.
The story includes the real audio of Hind’s desperate call to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society before the vehicle she was in was struck by over 300 bullets by the 'Israeli' forces.

The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in September 2025, receiving a 23-minute standing ovation and winning the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize, the festival’s second-highest honor. Ben Hania dedicated the film to humanitarian workers and first responders, saying it gives voice to civilians often reduced to numbers.
The Oscar nomination caps a widely praised international run, recognized for its sensitive portrayal of tragedy and its focus on preserving memory and dignity rather than recreating violence.
