As reports increase of an expected US military operation against Iran, municipalities across ‘Israel’ have begun opening and provisioning public bomb shelters Wednesday, signaling serious concerns over a direct Iranian missile counterattack, according to Hebrew media.

Tel Aviv and Beersheba

In Tel Aviv, the municipality announced the opening of shelters across all neighborhoods.

Residents have received strict instructions regarding "response times" for sirens, with underground metro stations also being designated as reinforced protection zones.

Further south, in Beersheba, a gateway to the Negev that houses vital command centers and the Hatzerim Airbase, shelter readiness has been raised to the maximum level.

Military sources indicate they expect heavy rocket fire originating either directly from Iranian soil or via long-range proxies.

Dimona: Nuclear Periphery

Preparations in Dimona are particularly sensitive due to the presence of the Negev Nuclear Research Center. Public shelters were opened for residents alongside a visible reinforcement of air defense batteries, including the Patriot and Arrow systems.

Security agencies fear Tehran could seek a "symbolic or retaliatory" strike near Dimona should US forces target Iranian nuclear facilities.

Widespread Mobilization

The alert has extended beyond the most important areas.

• Ofakim and Kiryat Gat: Southern municipalities have fully opened public shelters in anticipation of barrages from the east.
• Ra’anana: Located north of Tel Aviv, the city has joined the emergency protocol to protect residential areas.
