Jordanian travelers stranded at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah issued distress calls via Roya, describing hours of chaos and severe hardship after their flight was delayed for more than 23 consecutive hours.

Passengers accused Royal Jordanian of serious negligence, saying the delay began on Sunday evening and extended into the following day without clear explanation or support.

One affected traveler told Roya News that passengers arrived at the airport at 6:00AM for a flight scheduled to depart at 9:00AM. The departure was then postponed repeatedly, first to 10:00AM, then to 2:00PM, and later to 9:00PM, forcing some travelers to spend nearly 24 hours inside the airport.

Women and children sleep on floors

Travelers described harsh humanitarian conditions, noting that the group included women, children, elderly passengers, and people with medical conditions unable to endure prolonged exhaustion. They said passengers were scattered throughout airport corridors, sleeping on chairs and floors in scenes they described as degrading and lacking basic respect for human dignity.

Passengers also said they received no care, assistance, or accommodation from responsible authorities during the delay.

Lack of communication, management concerns

In statements marked by frustration, travelers criticized the airline’s management, saying no official representative communicated with them throughout the ordeal.

They compared their experience with policies of other airlines that provide hotels and immediate alternatives during disruptions, describing what happened as a serious violation of passenger rights rather than a routine technical delay.

As of publication, Royal Jordanian had not issued a public response addressing the passengers’ claims.
