Broferman faces allegations of obstructing the investigation and breach of trust. Former PM spokesperson Eli Feldstein has also been summoned for testimony, with a direct confrontation between the two expected at a later stage.
Expanding Probe
Police reportedly seized Broferman’s mobile phone as part of the inquiry. Ommer Mansour, another official from former PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, has been called in to provide statements, signaling a widening scope of the investigation.
Official Response
Foreign Minister 'Israel' Gideon Sa’ar defended Broferman’s appointment as ambassador to the United Kingdom, stating it followed proper legal procedures. Sa’ar emphasized that the investigation does not justify suspending Broferman or halting his duties at this stage.
Alleged Attempt to Influence Investigation
In an interview on 'Israeli' Kan 11 three weeks ago, Feldstein claimed that Broferman said he could “stop” the military investigation into leaked documents to Germany’s Bild newspaper. Feldstein said the discussion occurred in a parking lot at the Kiryat Ben-Gurion complex, where he was instructed to leave his phone outside the car. Broferman allegedly indicated that the investigation extended to the PM’s office and mentioned names later confirmed as suspects.

Feldstein previously gave a similar account to the Shin Bet (Shabak) without explicitly naming Broferman. According to Haaretz, an investigator noted in an official form that Feldstein’s statements would be thoroughly examined from all angles.
The inquiry continues as authorities seek to clarify the extent of the leaks and any potential interference from high-ranking officials.
