Jordanian club backs national team goalkeeper Yazeed Abulaila

Al Hussein Irbid Club has issued an official statement reaffirming its full and unconditional support for Jordan national team goalkeeper Captain Yazeed Abulaila amid what it described as an unjustified public campaign against him.

The statement comes after Abulaila faced sustained bullying, ridicule, and sharp public criticism in the aftermath of Jordan’s defeat in the Arab Cup final against Morocco 3-2.

The club said Abulaila has been a key pillar of Jordan’s historic football achievements, stressing that his contributions were instrumental in helping the national team reach its current respected position.

Al Hussein Irbid rejected any form of criticism that goes beyond performance-related analysis and turns into personal attacks, emphasizing that defamation and questioning a player’s character are unacceptable and inconsistent with Jordanian values.

The club also reaffirmed its institutional responsibility to protect the rights and morale of its players, calling on fans to stand united behind Abulaila and the national team to safeguard the reputation of Jordanian football internationally.
