A security officer was killed and several people were wounded after a suicide bombing targeting a police patrol in the Bab al-Faraj neighborhood in central Aleppo, according to SANA.

The attack followed a loud explosion that was heard across large parts of the city, triggering panic among residents in the densely populated area.

Explosion rocks city center

Initial reports indicate that the bomber detonated an explosive device near a security presence in Bab al-Faraj, a commercial and transit hub in central Aleppo. Emergency teams rushed to the scene as ambulances evacuated the wounded to nearby hospitals.

Witnesses said the blast caused significant damage to surrounding shops and vehicles, while security forces sealed off the area and launched an immediate investigation.

Ongoing investigation

Authorities have not yet released official details on the identity of the attacker or the group behind the bombing. No claim of responsibility was reported at the time of publication.

The attack comes amid continued security tensions in parts of northern Syria, where sporadic bombings and targeted attacks have raised fears of renewed instability in urban centers.

Officials said updates would be issued as more information becomes available.
