The operation involved raids on several homes in the city’s residential areas, leading to the detention of the three suspects believed to be involved in serious crimes that threatened public safety and stability.

Interior Ministry Statement

In an official statement, the Interior Ministry said the security action followed extensive intelligence work over a prolonged period to track the gang’s activities. The statement described the suspects as linked to criminal acts including robbery, murder and drug trafficking, and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to protecting civilians through continuous law enforcement efforts.

The ministry urged citizens to cooperate with security forces and report any suspicious behaviour to help maintain public order.

Wider context

The arrests come amid ongoing efforts by Gaza security agencies to confront organized crime and reinforce stability in the territory’s urban centres. Local police have stepped up intelligence‑led operations in recent months to dismantle armed groups and reduce violence affecting everyday life.

Authorities have not yet released detailed information about the suspects’ identities or the amount of cash seized, but said legal procedures are underway.
