  • 'Israel' strikes southern and eastern Lebanon, allegedly targeting Hezbollah infrastructure, including a military compound.
  • Four wounded in Taybeh attack, including employees of Lebanon’s state electricity company.
  • Ceasefire tensions persist, with 340 killed since November 2024 and international meetings pushing for Hezbollah disarmament.

'Israel' carried out several airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday, according to Lebanese state media, as the 'Israeli' military said it allegedly targeted Hezbollah infrastructure, including a military compound.

Ceasefire committee set to meet

The attacks come ahead of a scheduled meeting on Friday of the committee overseeing the ceasefire in place since November 2024. The committee includes Lebanon, 'Israel', the United States, France and the United Nations.

Targets reportedly include Hezbollah facilities

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported multiple strikes across the south and east of the country. The 'Israeli' military said it struck “terror infrastructure sites” in several areas, including a Hezbollah military compound used for training.

In a separate statement, 'Israel' said it targeted a Hezbollah operative in the Taybeh area of southern Lebanon.

Civilians injured in Taybeh strike

Lebanon’s health ministry said four people were wounded in the Taybeh strike. However, the NNA reported that several employees of Lebanon’s state electricity company were injured when their truck passed near the targeted vehicle.

Rising toll despite ceasefire

Despite the ceasefire intended to end more than a year of hostilities between 'Israel' and Hezbollah, 'Israeli' strikes have continued. On Tuesday, two people were killed in separate attacks, one of them around 30 kilometers south of Beirut.

According to an AFP tally based on Lebanese health ministry figures, around 340 people have been killed by 'Israeli' attacks since the ceasefire took effect.

Disarmament pressure and diplomatic talks

Under a government-approved plan, the Lebanese army is tasked with disarming Hezbollah south of the Litani River by the end of the year, before expanding the effort nationwide. Israel has accused Hezbollah of rearming and questioned the Lebanese army’s ability to dismantle the group’s military infrastructure.

A meeting on Lebanon is being held Thursday in Paris, bringing together the Lebanese army chief and American and Saudi officials, as France and the United States push for faster progress on Hezbollah’s disarmament.

Lebanese reaction

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri described the 'Israeli' strikes as “a message to the Paris conference dedicated to supporting the Lebanese army.”
