  • Palestinian authority says ‘Israeli’ orders seized 531 dunams of land in Jenin through military “seizure orders” for roads and fences.
  • Since early 2025, land seizures and tree removals have accelerated, targeting 2,549 dunams under 91 orders.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said ‘Israeli’ authorities have seized 531 dunams of Palestinian land in Jenin governorate through two military orders issued under the designation of “seizure orders”.

In a statement released Tuesday, the commission said the orders aim to open roads and install barbed-wire fencing on privately owned land under claims of security and military needs.

Roads linking evacuated settlements

The first order targets 513 dunams belonging to the villages of Jaba’, Al-Funduqomiya, Silat al-Dhahr, Attara, and Barqa, according to the commission.

The land seizure is intended to pave a fenced road linking former settlement sites evacuated in 2005, including Sanur and Homesh, reconnecting them with each other and surrounding settlement infrastructure.

The commission warned that the move would consolidate settlement presence and restrict Palestinian access to agricultural land in the area.

Second order targets Ya’bad and Arraba

The second military order affects 17.321 dunams of land belonging to the villages of Ya’bad and Arraba.

The commission said the land lies along the corridor between the Amerihiya area and Jabal al-Aqada, west of the ‘Israeli’ settlement of Mevo Dotan, where an “security road” is planned.

Tree removal order issued

In a parallel move, the ‘Israeli’ army issued a separate decision to remove tree cover from 124 dunams of land in the village of Ya’bad.

The measure falls under military order No. 51/25 and is intended to implement what authorities describe as “security measures” between the town and the Mevo Dotan settlement.

Local officials say the tree removal will damage livelihoods and permanently alter the landscape.

Sharp rise in land seizures

The commission said ‘Israeli’ authorities have significantly intensified land seizure orders since the start of 2025.

During this period, 91 military seizure orders were issued, resulting in the takeover of 2,549 dunams of Palestinian land across the West Bank.

In addition, 46 separate orders were issued to uproot trees, particularly around security roads, walls, buffer zones, and settlement perimeters.

Policy of expansion

The commission said the escalation reflects a deliberate policy aimed at seizing as much Palestinian land as possible under security pretexts.

“These measures are used to expand settlements and impose control on the ground”, the statement said, warning that the cumulative impact threatens territorial continuity and the future of Palestinian communities in Jenin and beyond.
