- Jordan's Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) seized unauthorized NAD+ and other injectable supplements used in "Biohacking" practices during a widespread inspection campaign targeting medical clinics and beauty centers in Amman.
- The unapproved products were found in an unlicensed beauty center and a pain treatment clinic, and had reportedly entered Jordan personally with travelers rather than through official regulatory channels.
Inspection teams from the Medical Devices and Supplies Directorate and the Drug Directorate at the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) carried out a widespread inspection campaign on Tuesday at medical clinics and beauty centers in the capital, Amman.
Illegal "Biohacking" Products Confiscated
In a statement, the JFDA said inspection teams seized and confiscated NAD+ injectables along with other unauthorized injections used in "Biohacking" practices and intravenous (IV) supplementation.
The products were found inside an unlicensed beauty center and a pain treatment and palliative care clinic.
The JFDA said that inspectors confiscated all quantities and started legal action against both establishments.
“This measure was taken due to the use of unauthorized and unregistered preparations and for conducting practices of a medical nature outside the legal and professional framework,” the statement said.
Circumventing Official Channels
Following an investigation into the source of these injections, it was revealed that they had entered Jordan personally with certain travelers and did not pass through the proper channels or official routes subject to the JFDA’s regulatory oversight.
