Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa met with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the Doha Forum, which began on Saturday.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Salam, the leaders explored ways to enhance cooperation and further develop relations between Syria and Lebanon, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.
Sharaa also attended the forum’s opening session, held under the theme “Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress,” the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.
Later, the Syrian president met with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim in the presence of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani. The discussions, Qatar News Agency noted, were part of broader talks the emir held with leaders from Syria, Somalia, Mauritania, Ghana, and Lebanon to review cooperation and address regional and international concerns.
In addition, Sharaa visited the headquarters of Al Jazeera in Doha, where he met with Director-General Sheikh Nasser bin Faisal Al Thani and network staff. He toured various departments and received a briefing on newsroom operations.
The Doha Forum, a two-day event, brings together global leaders including Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, World Economic Forum President Borge Brende, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates. Anadolu serves as the forum’s global communications partner.
The previous edition in December 2024, themed “The Innovation Imperative,” hosted over 5,000 participants and more than 350 speakers, reflecting the forum’s ongoing role as a hub for international dialogue and policy discussion.
