  • ‘Israeli’ air strikes on Khan Younis killed five Palestinians, including two children, in a displacement camp
  • The strikes were launched in retaliation for the injury of four ‘Israeli’ soldiers in Rafah, according to the ‘Israeli’ army claims.

‘Israel’ launched strikes on the city of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, according to the ‘Israeli’ public broadcasting corporation (KAN).

The strikes came -according to the ‘Israeli’ army claims- after Hamas fighters trapped in the Rafah tunnels injured four ‘Israeli’ soldiers in an ambush attack.

The “Kuwait Speciality Hospital” reported the death of five, including two children, resulting from a bombing carried out by ‘Israeli’ drone aircraft targeting the tents of displaced persons in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis.

Details of the Rafah Operation

The city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, saw what Hebrew media described as a "difficult incident."

The operation followed an armed clash between ‘Israeli’ forces and fighters who emerged from a tunnel in the area.

According to the initial ‘Israeli’ account, the fighters surprised the stationed force by "firing shots and anti-tank projectiles," resulting in "two soldiers being seriously wounded."

Hebrew Channel 14 said that a “cell of three” fighters “confronted the soldiers face-to-face."

The channel claimed two of the fighters were killed, while the third managed to "plant an explosive device on a Namer troop carrier" before withdrawing.

Sources confirmed that ‘Israeli’ helicopters landed east of Rafah to evacuate the wounded during the clash, while military censorship imposed a "blackout on the details of the incident."

‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz were immediately updated on the developments.

Hamas: Occupation Continues War of Annihilation

Politically, Hazem Qasem, spokesman for the Hamas movement, asserted that ‘Israel’ continues to “escalate its violations of the cease-fire agreement."

He pointed out that this escalation includes "targeting shelter centers and displacement camps in central Gaza City."

In a press statement, Qasem explained that the continuation of "killings, demolition of homes, displacement of citizens, and restriction of aid entry" confirms that the enemy is "continuing the war of annihilation... with a change in tempo, but leading to the same goals."
