- 'Israeli' army raids Samdaniya al-Sharqiya in southern Syria, targeting abandoned outpost.
- Raid involves two tanks and 10 military vehicles; no casualties reported.
- US President Trump calls for restraint and praises Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa.
The 'Israeli' army carried out a cross-border operation into southern Syria on Tuesday, targeting an abandoned military outpost in the village of Samdaniya al-Sharqiya in the Quneitra countryside, according to Syrian state media Alikhbariya. Two tanks and at least 10 military vehicles were involved in the raid.
The operation follows similar raids on two Syrian villages in Quneitra on Monday, continuing a pattern of near-daily 'Israeli' attacks in the region over the past several months.
The escalation comes despite recent calls for restraint by US President Donald Trump, who emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue with Syria.
“It is very important that Israel maintain a strong and true dialogue with Syria, and that nothing takes place that will interfere with Syria’s evolution into a prosperous state,” Trump said. He also praised Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, stating he is “working diligently” to ensure positive developments for both countries and describing the situation as “a historic opportunity ... for peace in the Middle East.”
Syrian government data indicates that since December 2024, 'Israel' has carried out over 1,000 airstrikes and more than 400 cross-border raids into the southern provinces. Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, 'Israel' expanded its control over the Syrian Golan Heights, including the demilitarized buffer zone, in violation of the 1974 agreement with Syria.
