Jordan's Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) announced today it has officially granted the license needed for the Amman City Airport (also known as Amman Civil Airport and Marka International Airport) to start operations.
The decision aligns with CARC’s ongoing efforts to “support civil aviation projects and is consistent with government directives and the Economic Modernization Vision aimed at developing infrastructure and enhancing the Kingdom's role as a regional hub for logistics and air transport services,” the statement by CARC said.
New Name
The Commission adopted the new name: "Amman City Airport."
The airport is expected to receive flights within three days, according to CARC’s chief.
He added that the airport will serve as an important alternative to the main Queen Alia International Airport, and that it will see demand demand due to its central location in Amman and the competitive privileges it can offer, making it attractive for low-cost airlines.
