- Of the 28 deceased captives whose bodies were still held by Hamas when the Gaza ceasefire took effect, two remain in the Strip.
Following the signing of the first phase of the ceasefire on October 13, 2025, all 20 living captives were returned by Hamas.
However, two of the 28 deceased captives have yet to be returned. They include Thai agricultural worker Sudthisak Rinthalak and Master Sgt. Ran Gvili, an 'Israeli' police officer, allegedly killed defending Kibbutz Alumin during the October 7, 2023 events.
The military wings of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad previously confirmed that the handover of bodies was carried out under challenging circumstances, noting that additional technical teams and equipment would be required to retrieve the remaining remains.
Yesterday, delegations from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, along with the United States, which also played a mediating role, met in Cairo to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, according to official Egyptian media reports.
Egyptian news outlet Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbariya reported that the meeting included the heads of Egyptian and Turkish intelligence as well as the Qatari Prime Minister. Discussions focused on “ways to intensify joint efforts” in coordination with the United States to “successfully implement the second phase of the ceasefire agreement” between Israel and Hamas.
Despite the ceasefire, the 'Israeli' military continues to conduct airstrikes, artillery shelling, and demolition operations across Gaza, raising concerns about the security and humanitarian situation in the Strip.
