Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, announced on Monday that they had discovered the body of an 'Israeli' captive during a search operation in areas controlled by the Israeli military in central Gaza.

In an official statement, the group said the body was found in the southern Khan Yunis area, within what they described as “enemy-controlled zones,” and added that it would be handled in accordance with established protocols.

A source in Islamic Jihad, who requested anonymity, confirmed the body belonged to one of the last three captives held by resistance in the territory.

At the start of the US-brokered ceasefire between 'Israel' and Hamas, which came into effect on October 10, Palestinian resistance were holding 20 living captives and 28 bodies of deceased captives.

Hamas has since released all the living captives and returned the remains of 25 dead captives, in line with the ceasefire terms.

In exchange, 'Israel' has released nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in its custody and returned the bodies of hundreds of dead Palestinians.
