Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced an initial toll of five people killed and 20 injured after an ‘Israeli’ airstrike targeted Beirut’s Dahieh.
The strike hit a residential apartment in the Haret Hreik area of the densely populated Dahieh district. According to ‘Israeli’ Army Radio, the attack targeted Abu Ali Tabtabai, described as “the number two figure in Hezbollah”, which is a claim later confirmed to Al Jazeera by a senior Hezbollah source.
Pre-planned operation
Hebrew media reports suggested the operation involved prior coordination. 'Israel’s' public broadcaster said Tel Aviv informed the United States about the planned strike, either at the political or military-security level.
Channel 14 reported that the attack was personally approved by 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and War Minister Israel Katz.

Repeated attempts
Channel 12 noted that this marks the third attempt by Tel Aviv to assassinate Tabtabai during the ongoing aggression.
Roya’s correspondent confirmed that the airstrike directly hit a crowded residential area. The initial ‘Israeli’ statement did not mention casualties among civilians.
