Liverpool collapses at Anfield, thrashed 3-0 by Nottingham Forest

Liverpool suffered a crushing 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, dealing a major blow to the club’s hopes of retaining the Premier League title. The loss marks Liverpool’s sixth of the season and second consecutive league defeat, leaving the defending champions 11th in the table with just 18 points.

Eight points behind leaders Arsenal, who have not lost in their last 14 matches across competitions, Liverpool’s title challenge appears increasingly unlikely. Liverpool started brightly in the first half, dominating possession and creating several chances, but Belgian goalkeeper Mats Sels kept them at bay. Against the run of play, Forest’s Brazilian defender Morelo broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute after a defensive clearance from a corner. A potential second goal by Forest’s Igor Jesus in the 35th minute was disallowed by VAR for handball.

Forest continued their dominance in the second half, with Nicolo Savona scoring immediately after the restart in the 46th minute, and Morgan Gibbs-White sealing the 3-0 victory in the 78th minute.

Chelsea climbs to second

Elsewhere, Chelsea continued their impressive form with a 2-0 win over Burnley, moving temporarily into second place with 23 points, three behind Arsenal. Despite resting key players ahead of their Champions League clash against Barcelona, Chelsea secured the victory through a Pedro Neto header in the 37th minute and a late goal by captain Enzo Fernandez in the 88th.
