Jordan's Southern Military Command thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics into the country using two unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) across its Western Front on Tuesday, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) said in a statement.

Border Guards Shoot Down Drones

The operation was carried out in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. Border Guard forces observed the two drones within their area of responsibility and immediately applied the rules of engagement, shooting them down inside Jordanian territory, per the statement.

The confiscated materials were transferred to the specialized authorities for further investigation, the JAF concludes.
