  • 'Israeli' security officials reportedly leaning toward recommending a short but intense war with Lebanon.
  • Military chief Eyal Zamir warns the army is prepared for a major ground offensive in Gaza if ordered.
  • UNIFIL reports 'Israeli' fire on peacekeepers and new violations along the Blue Line.

'Israeli' security officials are increasingly signaling support for a sharp escalation along the northern border, with Channel 13 reporting that the country’s defense establishment is moving toward recommending a “days-long” military confrontation with Lebanon.

The reported shift reflects longstanding 'Israeli' demands to neutralize Hezbollah’s military capabilities, along with fresh claims that the group has been rebuilding its strength despite ongoing tensions.

This renewed posture toward Lebanon came as 'Israel’s' military leadership issued its own warnings on a separate front. Chief of Staff of the 'Israeli' army, Eyal Zamir, said the forces remain fully prepared to launch a broad ground campaign inside Gaza if political leaders decide to move forward.

Zamir stated, “In parallel with the current operation, if we are asked, we must be ready to move quickly to a large-scale offensive to seize areas in the Gaza Strip beyond the other side of the yellow line.”

Concern in southern Lebanon continues to grow as 'Israel' maintains its near-daily activities along the frontier. 'Israeli' crews have recently expanded construction on sections of the border wall, including areas the United Nations says extend past the Blue Line.

The situation escalated further on Sunday when UNIFIL peacekeepers came under direct fire from an 'Israeli' Merkava tank, an incident the mission described as a blatant breach of Security Council Resolution 1701.

In a statement, UNIFIL said, “This morning, an Israeli army Merkava tank opened fire on UNIFIL peacekeeping forces near a position established by Israel inside Lebanese territory.”

The mission added that heavy machine-gun rounds struck the ground roughly five meters from its patrol, forcing peacekeepers to take cover.

With tensions rising on both the Lebanese and Gaza fronts, regional analysts warn that the combination of political pressure, military posturing, and repeated violations is pushing the situation toward a dangerous tipping point.
