• Presidency warns severe winter weather threatens millions of displaced people lacking safe shelter.
• Calls on international community to pressure 'Israel' to allow entry of prefabricated homes, tents, and essential supplies.

The Palestinian presidency on Saturday urged the international community, particularly the United States and the countries guaranteeing the ceasefire in Gaza, to exert immediate pressure on the 'Israeli' authorities to allow the entry of prefabricated homes and tents into the strip.

The appeal comes amid growing fears over severe weather conditions that pose a direct threat to civilians, especially as winter approaches and millions of displaced people remain without safe shelter.

Catastrophic shelter conditions and risk from cold

Gaza continues to face an extreme humanitarian crisis, with displaced families living in exposed areas or in makeshift shelters that offer little protection.

The presidency said the remaining tents in the strip are torn, worn out, and unable to keep out rain or provide adequate safety, adding that the ongoing military assault has destroyed large parts of civilian infrastructure.

This situation exposes children, women, and the elderly to serious health risks, including skin diseases and respiratory illnesses caused by cold and constant dampness, leading to higher mortality rates among the most vulnerable groups.

Call to lift restrictions and allow entry of vital equipment

The Palestinian presidency called on international actors to work urgently and collectively to implement the following steps:

• Lifting 'Israeli' restrictions: removing the barriers preventing the Palestinian government from bringing in essential shelter and heating supplies.
• Entry of mobile homes and tents: allowing prefabricated housing units and durable tents to provide safe shelter for families.
• Providing shelter equipment: ensuring the delivery of necessary items for warmth and protection ahead of expected cold weather and rainfall next week.

The presidency said that the deliberate obstruction of these essential materials amounts to causing an avoidable humanitarian disaster under harsh weather conditions.

It added that the latest appeal serves as a warning to the international community about the looming challenge facing displaced people in Gaza, stressing that humanitarian work depends on the ability to pressure the occupying authorities to separate humanitarian needs from political and security disputes.
