  • Donald Trump voiced confidence that Saudi Arabia will "fairly shortly" join the Abraham Accords and normalize relations with ‘Israel’.
  • Trump's remarks come ahead of an upcoming White House meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where the agenda will also include the kingdom's request to purchase F-35 fighter jets.

US President Donald Trump voiced confidence that Saudi Arabia could soon join the Abraham Accords and normalize relations with ‘Israel’, stating during a press conference aboard Air Force today.

Trump said that he hopes Saudi Arabia will participate "fairly shortly,” in remarks made as he travels to Florida for the weekend.

The Abraham Accords, brokered during Trump's first term in 2020, have already normalized relations between ‘Israel’ and countries including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Morocco.

Trump's optimism is tied to an upcoming White House meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, scheduled for November 18, 2025.

This will mark the prince's first visit to the White House in over seven years, signaling a warming of ties between the two leaders.

Trump described the engagement as "more than [one] meeting," adding that the US is "honoring" Saudi Arabia during the discussions.

Central to the talks will be the Abraham Accords themselves, with Trump confirming, "The Abraham Accords will be a part" of the agenda.

"We’re going to be discussing, I hope, that Saudi Arabia will be going into the Abraham Accords fairly shortly."

F-35 jets

In addition to diplomacy, Trump revealed he is considering Saudi Arabia's request to purchase F-35 stealth fighter jets from Lockheed Martin.

"They wanna buy a lot of jets," Trump told reporters, adding that the kingdom seeks "a lot of ‘35’ but they want to buy actually more than that fighter jets."

Reports suggest the meeting could yield executive agreements on defense, including F-35 sales, as well as economic pacts like liquefied natural gas purchases.

The push comes amid Saudi demands for security guarantees and progress on Palestinian issues before normalizing with ‘Israel’.

While Trump remains bullish, Saudi officials have reiterated their conditions, including a pathway to Palestinian statehood.
