A recently released Palestinian detainee gave a harrowing account of abuse and sexual assault he endured while detained in Israeli Occupation prisons, describing prolonged physical and psychological torture. The testimony was shared during an interview on the Nabdh Al-Balad program aired on Roya.

The detainee, who was arrested in the West Bank during the last Gaza war, described being transferred between multiple detention centers before ending up in the prison authority. He recounted being ordered to kneel while prison staff removed his lower clothing, then being subjected to what he described as a sexual assault using a solid object, likely a torture instrument, for approximately 20 minutes.

He said the assault involved four people, including a female guard and another who spoke Arabic. During the attack, he was verbally insulted and threatened with sexual violence against his wife and sisters. Afterward, he was left unable to move for an hour, then beaten again and placed in a cell, all while fasting.

The detainee revealed that he discovered the extent of his injuries when blood appeared after trying to shower, which continued for 20 days. He also suffered severe pain, sleep disruption, and fractures to his ribcage from repeated blows to his chest and head, in addition to living in a cell infested with bedbugs.

He accused his jailers of systematic sexual assault, starvation, and beatings, emphasizing that what he shared was “only a small part” of the abuse prisoners endured. He criticized the Palestinian Authority, stating that it had failed to intervene, console prisoners, or demand accountability for their treatment.
