Jordan has made significant strides in global digital competitiveness, climbing to 44th place worldwide in the 2025 Global Digital Competitiveness Index, up from 50th in 2024.

The country has shown steady improvement over the past five years, according to the report issued by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD).

Regionally, Jordan ranks 7th among Arab nations, continuing its upward trajectory in the global digital economy despite ongoing challenges.

The index evaluates three main pillars: digital knowledge, technology, and future readiness. Jordan showed notable improvements in all three areas:

  • Digital Knowledge: Jordan jumped from 57th to 50th globally.
  • Technology: The country moved from 52nd to 51st.
  • Future Readiness: Jordan advanced from 43rd to 42nd.

The report also analyzed several sub-factors. In the digital knowledge pillar, Jordan saw a major rise in scientific focus, climbing from 65th to 41st, and a slight improvement in training and education, from 49th to 48th. However, its talent ranking dropped from 43rd to 57th.

In the technology pillar, Jordan improved in technological framework (62nd to 57th) and capital (42nd to 31st), but declined slightly in regulatory framework, from 41st to 42nd.

For future readiness, the country advanced in IT integration (54th to 50th) and business agility (22nd to 15th), while seeing a small decline in adaptability (56th to 57th).

The report highlighted Jordan’s strengths, including venture capital (11th globally), research legislation (15th), investment in the telecom sector (10th), business agility (18th), and government cybersecurity capabilities (11th).

At the same time, areas requiring improvement include mobile broadband subscriptions (65th), wireless broadband (66th), high-tech exports (63rd), secure internet servers (67th), and tablet ownership rates (62nd).

Overall, the IMD report underscores Jordan’s progress in building a competitive digital economy while pointing to key areas where further investments and policy focus are needed to sustain growth in the digital age.
