'Israeli' jets struck the outskirts of Chebaa in southern Lebanon, the hometown of President Joseph Aoun, on Thursday, coinciding with his meeting with Army Commander General Rudolf Heikal and his order for the army to confront 'Israeli' incursions in the south.
Drones also hovered over Beirut’s southern suburbs near the presidential palace in Baabda following the announcement.
According to a statement from the Health Emergency Operations Center, “The attack targeted the town on Thursday, resulting in three civilians being injured and transferred to hospitals for treatment.” The statement did not specify the nature or severity of the injuries.
The airstrikes coincided with President Joseph Aoun’s meeting with Army Commander General Heikal. During the meeting, Aoun instructed the military to confront any 'Israeli' incursion into the liberated southern territories, emphasizing the defense of Lebanon’s land and the protection of its citizens.
Earlier on Thursday, following a recent raid that killed a municipal worker, President Aoun ordered the armed forces to take action against any 'Israeli' incursions in southern Lebanon.
The presidency reiterated that the army must “confront any 'Israeli' incursion into liberated southern territory, in defense of Lebanese territory and the safety of citizens.”
