A coalition of Arab and Muslim countries, including Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Gambia, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Egypt, and Nigeria, alongside the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, have strongly condemned the 'Israel' Knesset’s approval of two proposed laws aimed at imposing so-called “Israel sovereignty” over the occupied West Bank and illegal 'Israeli' settlements.

Violation of International Law

The joint statement described the legislation as a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which denounces all 'Israeli' measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character, and legal status of Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) advisory opinion also confirms the illegality of the 'Israeli' occupation and the invalidity of settlement construction and land annexation in the West Bank. The statement reaffirmed that 'Israel' has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories.

ICJ Advisory Opinion and Humanitarian Obligations

The countries welcomed the ICJ advisory opinion issued on 22 October 2025, which reiterated 'Israel’s' obligations under international humanitarian law to ensure that Palestinian residents, including those in Gaza, have access to basic necessities and to facilitate humanitarian aid through the United Nations and its agencies, including UNRWA.

The court emphasized 'Israel’s' duty to respect the prohibition on using starvation as a method of warfare, noting the blockade of aid into Gaza.

It reaffirmed the prohibition on forced population transfers and the imposition of unbearable living conditions, and confirmed the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and an independent state, declaring 'Israel’s' claims over East Jerusalem null and void.

Call for International Action

The statement warned against 'Israel’s' ongoing unilateral and illegal policies and urged the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities.

It called for pressure on 'Israel' to halt its escalation and unlawful measures and to respect the Palestinian people’s right to establish a sovereign state on the 4 June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, seen as the only path to a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees regional security and stability.
