‘Israeli’ Transportation Minister Miri Regev revealed Monday that she proposed cremating the body of deceased Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar during the last political-security cabinet meeting.

Regev stated that she believes it is necessary, drawing a comparison to the disposal of Osama Bin Laden's body, although Bin Laden was buried at sea, not cremated.

"I think there are certain symbols that should not be returned," the minister said, adding that she would "at no point" want to see Sinwar "returned to the grave."

The proposal is reportedly awaiting review by security officials.

Regev's comments come amid previous reports that Hamas, during mediated talks for a ceasefire deal with ‘Israel’, had demanded the return of the bodies of both Yahya Sinwar and his brother Muhammad.

‘Israel’ previously refused to release Yahya Sinwar's body after it was moved to a secret storage location, with an ‘Israeli’ official stating the bodies "will not be included in the current deal" following the initial phase of a ceasefire.

Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip and the architect of the October 7 operation, was killed by the ‘Israeli’ military on October 16, 2024 in Rafah.

His brother Muhammad, who was also a key figure in Oct. 7, was killed in an ‘Israeli’ airstrike in May, 2025.
