Over 17,000 people have signed a petition on Change.org calling for 'Israel' to be banned from participating in the Eurovision Song Contest, or for the United Kingdom to withdraw in protest.

The petition, initiated by an activist concerned about 'Israel’s' recent actions, states, "The appalling actions taken by Israel that many consider genocidal cannot be ignored or shrugged off. Eurovision is a celebration of inclusivity, love, and unity, principles that stand in stark contrast to the violence and oppression associated with Israel's actions. Seeing Israel participate stains the values that this great contest stands for."

The statement continues, urging the UK and other like-minded nations to take a stand, "Withdrawing from the contest will send a powerful message against the overlooked atrocities and demand serious consideration from the Eurovision community. Israel's participation should be conditional on significant changes to their policies."

Highlighting Eurovision’s legacy of promoting camaraderie among cultures, the petition calls on participants to exemplify ideals of peace and solidarity. Signatories argue that until 'Israel' is held accountable, the UK should step back in solidarity with the oppressed.
