'Israel': Red Cross heads to northern Gaza for handover of captive remains

The 'Israeli' military announced that the Red Cross is en route to a meeting point in northern Gaza to take custody of several coffins containing the remains of deceased captives.

“The Red Cross is on its way to the meeting point in the northern Gaza Strip, where several coffins of deceased hostages will be transferred into their custody,” the military said in an updated statement, revising an earlier plan that had set the handover in southern Gaza.

Earlier, a senior Hamas official told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that the group intended to hand over the bodies of four to six captives later on Tuesday.

The move follows Monday’s handover of four captives’ remains, which came just hours after Hamas released the last 20 surviving captives.
