Tragic drowning of three siblings in King Abdullah Canal, Jordan

Three young siblings, two boys and a girl, died Tuesday evening after drowning in the King Abdullah Canal in the Deir Alla area of Balqa Governorate, according to a statement by the Public Security Directorate (PSD).

Specialized diving teams managed to recover the bodies from the water, but the children had already passed away, the PSD spokesperson confirmed.

Immediate response and rescue efforts

Authorities said the operations room received a report on Tuesday evening about three siblings, aged seven, five, and three, who had fallen into the canal. Rescue and diving teams from the Balqa Civil Defense Directorate were immediately dispatched to the site and launched search and rescue operations.

After extensive efforts, divers were able to locate and retrieve the three children. First aid was administered at the scene before the children were transported to Princess Iman Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the tragic incident.
