Militia attack targets security forces and displaced civilians
In a separate but simultaneous development, a senior Interior Ministry source in Gaza reported that several security officers and displaced civilians were killed in a coordinated attack by an armed militia in Gaza City, the most serious internal security incident since the ceasefire began.
The source said the militia carried out a double attack, targeting security forces first, which resulted in fatalities among officers, and then firing on displaced civilians returning from southern Gaza to the city.
Strong security response
Gaza’s security forces responded immediately, surrounding the armed group and working to restore order. Authorities stressed that they are determined to “enforce security and hold those responsible for the killings accountable,” signaling that no attempt to destabilize Gaza’s internal security will be tolerated.
The identity and motives of the armed militia remain unclear. The incidents underscore the fragile security situation in Gaza, even as residents cautiously return to their homes under the ceasefire.
