Two people were killed on Thursday in an ‘Israeli’ strike on southern Lebanon, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported, despite a declared ceasefire in place for months between ‘Israel’ and Hezbollah.

The ministry said in a statement that “the Israeli enemy strike targeting a car on the Jarmaq Khardali road resulted in two deaths and one person wounded in an initial toll.”

The area is about 10km from the ‘Israeli’ border.

Lebanese official media said that the two victims were engineers working for a company sanctioned by the United States for allegedly having ties to Hezbollah.

The two men, working with the company Mi‘mar, were on an inspection mission assessing damage from previous ‘Israeli’ attacks on nearby towns when their vehicle was hit.

‘Israel’ regularly carries out strikes in Lebanon, asserting they target Hezbollah, despite a ceasefire reached in November 2024.

‘Israel’ has maintained forces on five hills in southern Lebanon since the end of the war.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health reported one killed and five injured in another ‘Israeli’ strike in the south.

The United Nations said it has verified the deaths of 103 civilians in Lebanon since the ceasefire, calling for an end to the suffering.

Under US pressure, the Lebanese government last month asked the army to develop a plan to disarm Hezbollah.

Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji said the army will complete the disarmament of fighters in the border area within three months.
