The action is a protest against the hijacking of the Gaza-bound aid convoy, the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which has been intercepted by ‘Israeli’ forces.
The general strike, which is also supported by powerful grassroots organizations like the Unione Sindacale di Base (USB), is intended to defend the flotilla, stop the "aggression against civilian ships," and demand an immediate halt to arms shipments to ‘Israel’.
