The ‘Israeli’ military said it will close on Wednesday the last remaining route for residents of southern Gaza to access the north, as it presses its offensive on Gaza City.

"Al-Rashid Street will be closed to traffic from the southern sector area at 12:00 (0900 GMT)," the military's Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee said on X. "Movement southward will be allowed for those who were unable to evacuate Gaza City. At this stage, the [Israeli military] permits free movement southward without inspection."

At the same time, the military issued an immediate evacuation order to the remaining residents in northern Gaza to head south.

The escalation unfolds as US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan hangs in the balance.

Mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey are urging Hamas to deliver a positive response to the proposal, according to two sources familiar with the talks who spoke to Axios.

Trump on Tuesday set an ultimatum, giving Hamas “three to four days” to respond.

"We have one signature that we need, and that signature will pay in hell if they don't sign. I hope they sign for their own good and create something really great,” Trump said from Quantico, Virginia.

Among the key points of the proposal is Hamas’ disarmament and their removal from governing Gaza in any form; directly or indirectly.

Even though ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu consented to Trump’s 20-point plan, he clarified that the military will maintain its presence in most of Gaza.

“We will recover all our hostages, alive and well, while the [Israeli military] will remain in most of the Gaza Strip,” Netanyahu said.

Additionally, he denied reports suggesting he had agreed to forming a Palestinian state.

“Not at all, and it is not written in the agreement. One thing was made clear: We will strongly oppose a Palestinian state,” the president added.
