At least 40 freed Palestinian detainees re-arrested by 'Israel', Prisoners’ Club reports

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, a Ramallah-based rights organization, said Tuesday that 'Israeli' authorities continue to escalate actions targeting prisoners released in the latest exchange deal, carrying out arrests, field interrogations, and ongoing questioning.

The latest case involves Hanan Barghouti, who was detained early Tuesday morning from her home in Kobar, Ramallah.

In a statement, the club described the escalation as part of a systematic policy and a clear violation of the exchange deal, sending a message to all released detainees that they remain under constant targeting and surveillance.

According to the club’s documentation of daily arrests, at least 40 detainees released in the recent January–February exchange have been detained, with 16 still in custody, including three women. Most of these detentions have been converted to administrative detention, including notable figures such as Wael al-Jaghoub from Nablus, who spent 23 years in 'Israeli' prisons.

The club noted that some of the released detainees have been targeted multiple times through arrests, interrogations, and field investigations. These measures reflect a longstanding 'Israeli' policy toward released detainees, which became particularly evident during the re-arrest of dozens of detainees released in the 2014 “Wafa al-Ahrar” deal.

The Prisoners’ Club warned that the current escalation represents a continuation of decades of systemic pressure on Palestinian detainees even after their release.
