Qatar to hold meeting on Gaza truce with Hamas, Turkey

Qatar announced Tuesday that it will hold a meeting later in the day with Hamas and Turkey to discuss the US-proposed Gaza truce plan. 

The Qatari government added that Hamas is reviewing the proposal “responsibly.”

"The (Hamas) negotiating delegation promised to study it responsibly," Majed al-Ansari, Qatar's foreign ministry spokesman, told a press conference. "There will also be another meeting today, also attended by the Turkish side, with the negotiating delegation."

Additionally, Qatar also said it is “content” with security assurances following calls with the US and ‘Israel.’

"The security assurances and the commitments that were offered in the call yesterday (Monday) by President Trump and the Israeli prime minister (Benjamin Netanyahu) were very clear and were under the guarantee of the US president that Qatar will never be attacked," al-Ansari said. 

While Netanyahu confirmed that he was in favor of Trump’s plan, saying it “achieves our war aims,” he later reiterated on Tuesday that the 'Israeli' military would remain in most of Gaza and all captives would be recovered “alive and well,” emphasizing that he did not agree to a Palestinian state and that it was not part of the deal.
