Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Cairo on Monday, with both leaders discussing regional developments, particularly the situation in Gaza.
In a statement, the Egyptian presidency said the two leaders welcomed US President Donald Trump’s initiative to halt the Gaza conflict, emphasizing the importance of supporting the peace effort as a step toward achieving a lasting and comprehensive regional peace.
According to presidential spokesperson Mohamed El-Shenawy, the meeting included an expanded session with both countries’ delegations, followed by a closed bilateral discussion between Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.
Sisi also highlighted the notable progress in cooperation between Egypt and the UAE, particularly in trade and investment, and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to removing all obstacles to UAE investments.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed arrived in Cairo on Monday for what was described as a “fraternal” visit. He was received by President Sisi at Cairo International Airport.
The Egyptian presidency noted in a statement on Facebook that the visit reflects the historical and deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two countries, which both leaders are committed to strengthening and building upon, continuing decades of achievements since the founding of the UAE by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
