Pro-Palestinian students joined a general strike in Turin organized by the Unione Sindacale di Base (USB Union/Italian trade union) on Monday, now extending across Italy.

The USB Union launched a 24-hour national strike across all sectors, calling on the Italian government to immediately sever ties with ‘Israel’ in solidarity with the Palestinian people and support the Global Sumud Flotilla.

In a statement, USB called the protests a nationwide mobilization, describing it as a “flood sweeping across the country.”

Workers from both the public and private sectors joined the strike.

Additionally, significant disruption is expected in public translation throughout the day.

Media reports said that rail services may face cancellation and delays until 11 PM, affecting Frecce, Intercity, and regional trains, with guaranteed services only during the protected slots.

Furthermore, mass rallies are expected to start in major cities, including Rome, Milan and Bologna.

The mobilization was initially launched by dockworkers of Genoa as the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza worsened, and is now spreading across Italy.
