VIDEO: Rubio, Netanyahu storm Buraq Wall in occupied Jeruselem
'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accompanied by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, stormed the Buraq Wall area in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday.
This comes as part of Rubio's visit to 'Israel' following Washington’s reaffirmation of unwavering support for its ally in the war with Hamas, despite mounting criticism over a recent 'Israeli' strike in Qatar.
The strike in Qatar targeted Hamas leaders who were reportedly meeting to discuss a new US-proposed ceasefire. The unprecedented operation against a US ally drew sharp criticism and prompted President Donald Trump to publicly rebuke 'Israel'.
Before departing for the region, Rubio told reporters that while Trump was “not happy” about the strike, it would “not change the nature of our relationship with the Israelis,” though he acknowledged that the two sides would need to discuss its impact on truce efforts.
Netanyahu defended the operation, saying that eliminating senior Hamas officials would remove the “main obstacle” to ending the war. In recent days, Israel has intensified its campaign in Gaza, ordering residents to evacuate and targeting numerous high-rise buildings it claims were being used by Hamas.
Rubio’s visit comes amid heightened tensions over both the war in Gaza and 'Israel’s' relations with regional partners.
