Over 6,000 displaced in Gaza City in one day amid 'Israeli' strikes

Gaza’s Civil Defense said on Saturday that more than 6,000 civilians were displaced in a single day after 'Israeli' airstrikes hit homes across Gaza City.

“More than 6,000 civilians have been left homeless after their homes were targeted today,” spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said.

Despite the displacement, some 900,000 people remain in Gaza City.

The 'Israeli' military claims that about 280,000 residents have left the city in recent weeks. Gaza’s Civil Defense, however, reported far fewer departures, saying only around 68,000 people have managed to flee south.

Earlier in the week, the 'Israeli' army ordered all residents of Gaza City to evacuate ahead of a planned offensive and has continued to drop leaflets instructing civilians to leave before strikes.

In recent days, 'Israel' has escalated what local media have named the “war on towers,” targeting high-rise residential buildings.

Earlier today, the military issued two evacuation warnings, giving residents less than an hour before striking two towers and the surrounding areas where many displaced families had been sheltering.
