Medical teams at the Jordanian field hospital in southern Gaza have performed a “successful and complex surgery” on a 60-year-old woman who suffered a comminuted fracture of her humerus bone and severe tissue damage.

The hospital's medical staff successfully performed the operation as part of the facility's mission to provide comprehensive healthcare to the people of Gaza, according to the hospital's commander in a statement cited by the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF).

Surgical Details

The hospital director explained that the surgery was performed by a specialized team of surgeons, technicians, and anesthetists. The chief orthopedic surgeon added that the patient's injury involved a fractured bone and bone loss, which prevented natural healing.

During the procedure, the medical team removed dead and contaminated bone fragments, restored the anatomical position of the bone, and stabilized it with metal plates and screws. They also took bone grafts from the patient's pelvis and fibula to fill the gap and support the healing process.
