Hamas attack kills four ‘Israeli’ soldiers in Gaza City: army
Four ‘Israeli’ soldiers were killed in a Hamas attack on the outskirts of Gaza City on Monday morning, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) said in a statement.
The statement identified three soldiers:
Staff Sgt. Uri Lamed, Sgt. Amit Arye Regev, Sgt. Gadi Cotal – all three served with the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion.
The fourth soldier’s name will be released later, according to the statement.
Another soldier with the Nahal Brigade’s 50th Battalion was moderately wounded in the incident.
According to a probe by the ‘Israeli’ military cited by Hebrew media, three or four Hamas fighters attacked an army camp in the Kafr Jabalia area at around 6 AM, after the soldiers returned to their outpost following “overnight activity”.
The Hamas fighters reached the tank and opened fire at the commander, whose head was outside the vehicle. The fighter then threw an explosive inside the tank leading to the death of four soldiers – according to the probe.
