'Israeli' army orders Gaza City residents to evacuate south toward Al-Mawasi
The 'Israeli' army on Saturday announced the designation of Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, as what it described as a “humanitarian zone,” along with the conversion of the Al-Rashid coastal road into a “humanitarian corridor” to facilitate the evacuation of civilians from Gaza City.
Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said residents of Gaza City could leave southward toward Al-Mawasi via Al-Rashid Street “without inspection, quickly, and using vehicles.” He added that the army has identified the area in Khan Younis as a humanitarian zone where improved services will be provided.
According to the 'Israeli' army, the designated zone includes “essential humanitarian infrastructure,” such as field hospitals, water lines, desalination facilities, and a continuous supply of food, tents, medicine, and medical equipment. These will reportedly be brought in through coordination between 'Israel’s' Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) and international partners.
The spokesperson also said renovation works are underway at the European Hospital in Khan Younis to “enable the provision of better medical services to residents.”
Meanwhile, 'Israeli' forces continue military operations in Gaza City, which the army described as part of its campaign to “defeat Hamas.”
