These efforts are part of a continuous drive to enhance traffic flow and ensure public safety, the GAM said in a statement.
The campaigns, carried out by GAM's inspection teams, target all practices that obstruct public facilities.
Zero Tolerance
The municipality is emphasizing a "zero-tolerance" policy for any violations that infringe on a citizen's right to use roads and sidewalks safely and easily.
Campaign Goals
The municipality aims to achieve several key objectives through these campaigns:
- Facilitate Traffic: Removing obstacles from the streets directly contributes to reducing traffic jams, especially in commercial areas
- Ensure Pedestrian Safety: Reclaiming sidewalks for pedestrians guarantees their right to move safely and reduces the risk of accidents that could result from being forced to walk in the street
- Improve the City's Urban Appearance: Removing unauthorized stalls and obstacles enhances the city's aesthetic appeal
Targeted Violations
The campaigns include the removal of a wide range of violations and encroachments, such as:
- Unlicensed kiosks, stalls, and street vendor carts
- Goods and merchandise displayed on sidewalks by shop owners
- Iron or concrete barriers placed by some to reserve private parking spaces
- Construction materials and debris left on roads and sidewalks
- Vehicles displayed for sale or abandoned on roadsides
