According to a military statement, the Chief of the General Staff has instructed that the inquiry begin immediately.

The statement added that the army "regrets any harm to uninvolved individuals," claiming that it does not target journalists and works to "mitigate harm to civilians as much as possible while maintaining the safety of its troops."

The strike on Nasser Hospital resulted in at least 15 deaths, including five journalists.
