Jordan reiterates condemnation of 'Israeli' settler attacks on aid convoys to Gaza
Jordan’s Minister of Government Communications and official spokesperson, Dr. Mohammad Momani, on Monday condemned ongoing attacks by 'Israeli' settlers on Jordanian aid convoys bound for the Gaza Strip, holding 'Israeli' authorities fully responsible for failing to restrain such actions.
Momani emphasized that these assaults, which endanger drivers and obstruct humanitarian work, constitute a clear violation of international conventions and agreements.
Details of latest attack
The minister revealed that on Sunday evening, a group of settlers attempted to disrupt a humanitarian aid convoy consisting of 59 trucks en route to Gaza.
The attacks targeted four trucks, which were stoned and damaged, resulting in:
- Shattered front windshields
- Punctured tires
- Broken front and side parts of the trucks
Despite these attacks, the convoy eventually crossed successfully and delivered the aid to Gaza.
Artificial obstacles exacerbate Gaza’s suffering
The difficulties facing aid deliveries extend beyond settler attacks. Momani reiterated that the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization’s efforts continue to encounter artificial obstacles imposed by Israeli authorities, including:
- Requiring electronic applications for aid transfers
- Restricting inspection times to short periods during official working hours at crossings
- Imposing new customs fees
Momani noted that these obstacles increase the delivery time for aid from just two hours under normal circumstances to around 36 hours, further intensifying the suffering of Gaza residents and delaying vital assistance.
