'Israeli' policeman involved in October 7 commits suicide in Ashkelon

An 'Israeli' police officer from the Sderot station was found dead in Ashkelon on Sunday evening in what authorities described as an apparent suicide, according to 'Israeli' media.

Emergency teams were called to the scene and confirmed the officer’s death, according to ZAKA, 'Israel's' post-disaster response teams, whose personnel also arrived.

Police have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or the officer’s identity. An investigation into the circumstances is expected to be launched.

According to a source who works with security personnel suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), the officer had previously taken part in the fighting at the Sderot station on October 7, 2023.

The case adds to a series of reported suicides and testimonies of mental distress within 'Israeli' security and rescue services since the start of the war. Organizations providing psychological support to veterans have noted a sharp increase in requests for assistance related to PTSD, burnout, and depression.
