In a statement, the Brigades said that a platoon-sized unit launched the raid by targeting several Merkava-4 guard tanks.

It added that fighters shelled houses where 'Israeli' soldiers were stationed with six anti-fortification rounds and heavy machine gun fire, before storming the buildings and engaging troops at close range with light weapons and hand grenades, claiming to have killed and wounded several soldiers.

The statement also said that a sniper targeted and fatally hit the commander of a Merkava-4 tank. When an 'Israeli' rescue unit arrived, one of the fighters detonated himself among the soldiers, causing further casualties.

To secure their withdrawal and block reinforcements, the fighters reportedly shelled surrounding positions with mortars.

The Brigades concluded by saying the attack lasted for several hours and that their fighters observed 'Israeli' helicopters landing at the site to evacuate the wounded.
